Ch. 5: Specific Service Elements
If your campus is abundant enough to utilize off-stage Vocal Directors, the sound will be more dialed in than ever.
Your responsibilities will not shift from the normal VD role, except you will (1) remain in the house for the duration of soundcheck, as you will not have the added responsibility of singing yourself, and (2) utilize a pack to listen in as needed to different vocalists’ mixes.
This ability to focus completely on the sound offstage is a brilliant tool, and one we utilize regularly during conferences.
The off-stage VD expectation is to remain through the first service for worship and soaking, to give any notes needed for the vocal team to bring into the next service, and to observe the second worship set as well.
