CAMPUS WORSHIP DIRECTOR
Campus Worship Directors are in charge of overseeing everything worship-related at an Awaken campus. Based on the Jethro principle found in Exodus 18:17-23, this role has been simplified over the years to focus on two main areas: Vision-casting for the campus team(s) and developing and empowering leaders.
Vision-Casting
Set culture and vision with the campus team(s). (Habakkuk 2:2)
Unite the team in heart and purpose - finding the presence of God and leading others into it.
Work closely (1) with campus pastors to ensure the worship team supports the campus vision and (2) with the Worship Director to ensure that culture and processes are generally consistent with those of other campuses, per the vision of our lead pastors.
Cultivate a leadership environment with campus worship leads where team members are constantly being championed, developed and challenged to new levels of excellence.
Consistently ensure a powerful, anointed worship atmosphere where people encounter God.
Developing and Empowering Leaders
Lead the campus core team. At smaller campuses, team members may have multiple roles and/or CWDs may take on some roles themselves for a season.
The ultimate goal is for every leader on the team (including the CWD) to directly lead no more than 6-7 people. By focusing most of their attention and time directly on core leaders, a CWD can then empower them to oversee specific areas.
Set a culture and example of leaders discipling and shepherding their teams.
Equip the leaders to have vision for their areas they’re responsible for. Not just to SEE the vision, but to SEE how to overcome obstacles and opposition, how to solve problems and issues that arise, and how to assemble an action plan to fulfill the vision.
Develop and empower the Campus Admin to manage campus worship budgets, provide administrative support for worship ministry meetings, maintain inventory for the campus equipment and replacement requests, organize additional fuel support for events, etc. Campus Admin is also overseen at an HQ level by the Worship Admin (Andessa Garcia).
Develop and empower the Onboarding Lead to schedule, organize and run Audition Nights, manage orientation for new team members and ensure orientees are paired with veteran team members for training. Assimilations Lead is also overseen at an HQ level by the Worship Assimilations Coach (Ali Anderberg).
Develop and empower the Musician Manager to identify, disciple and develop Music Directors (MDs) for the campus who, in turn, disciple and develop the campus’s musicians.
Develop and empower the Vocal Manager to identify, disciple, and develop Vocal Directors (VDs) for the campus, who in turn disciple and develop the campus’s vocalists.
Develop and empower the Worship Leader Development Lead to identify, disciple and develop Worship Leaders for the campus who can consistently build God-anointed, faith-filled atmospheres and worship experiences at the campus. This role is generally only separate from the CWD’s role if the CWD isn’t a worship leader themselves or chooses to delegate this to a leader that’s being developed to be a CWD.
Develop and empower the Pastoral Care Lead to resource and empower campus team members to minister and care for one another and to manage pastoral care forms to ensure no care slips through the cracks. Pastoral Care Lead is also overseen by the campus Pastoral Care Coach.
Success Measures
There are three success measures to let us know our campuses are thriving under the leadership of our Worship Directors:
Growth In Width: Healthy things grow and when we see the number of our teams grow, we know people are excited to be a part of something that is thriving!
Growth in Depth: We want to see the team grow in excellence, in spiritual and emotional health and in connection with each other.
Growth In Alignment: We want a team that is not only aligned with the vision of the church, but also with the vision of the campus pastors!
